Dichloromethylsilane (chemical formula CH₃SiHCl₂, CAS No. 75-54-7), also known as Methylhydrodichlorosilane , is a highly active organosilicon compound. The substance is colorless or light yellow transparent liquid at room temperature, easily fuming in humid air, density 1.105 g/cm³ (25℃), boiling point 41.9℃, flash point as low as -32℃, explosion limit range of 6%-55% (volume concentration), soluble in benzene, ether and other organic solvents.
Its chemical properties are as follows: hydrolyzed violently in contact with water and release hydrogen chloride gas and heat, contact with oxidizing agent may cause combustion or explosion, belongs to NFPA level 3 highly flammable liquid (the highest level of fire hazard). This highly reactive compound needs to be stored and transported away from water, ignition sources and oxidizing agents.

Organosilicon material synthesis:
Used in the preparation of hydrogen-containing silicone oil as fabric water repellent, rubber and plastic modifier, etc..
As the key raw material of silicon hydrogen addition reaction, synthesizing intermediates such as methyl vinyl dichlorosilane.
Production of surfactants (such as methylcarboxyethyl dipolyoxyvinylsilane).
Industrial use:
Involved in the manufacture of semiconductor materials, electronic grade silicon polymers.
Used as a dispersing stabilizer in paraffin emulsion and other products.
Hazard: Strongly corrosive (contact with skin or eyes can cause burns), inhalation of its vapors can damage the respiratory tract.
Storage Requirements: It needs to be sealed and stored under dry and inert gas environment, away from ignition sources and oxidizers.
Emergency treatment: It needs to be adsorbed with sand and soil in case of leakage, and it is recommended to use dry powder or carbon dioxide to extinguish the fire, and it is prohibited to use water to put out the fire directly.
